The debut of the first commercially-available system for late-stage customisation of pre-cut pharmaceutical blisters, as well as an out-of-the-box solution for variable data marking, verification and barcode grading, are among the highlights to be presented by Hapa-Laetus.

The Hapa 807 BlisterJet late-stage customisation system has been introduced to help manufacturers achieve greater productivity in their blisterpacking operations by running large batches of product in blank blisters, which are then printed offline with customer- or market-specific data. A complete unit incorporating one or two printer modules, a format-free blister magazine and transport, the BlisterJet is capable of printing in one or two colours at speeds up to 200 blisters/min.

The system offers integral checking of print presence and correctness through a Laetus Polycheck, installed on the unit's outfeed. Blisters failing the quality check are automatically diverted into a secure eject station.

With pharmaceutical companies under increasing legislative pressure to ensure that variable data is correct and complete, Laetus will also present a solution for marking and verification of data. This integrates a Wolke unit to print the data combined with Laetus" Inspect camera system, capable of verifying both linear and 2D barcodes. The complete system can be integrated via a single, user-friendly interface and complies with all pharmaceutical validation and FDA 21 CFR part 11 requirements.

Inspect is the first online system for the pharmaceutical industry with the capacity to grade barcodes qualitatively, preventing sub-standard codes from entering the supply chain and generating an audit trail.
