International conference in York to celebrate innovation in lab design

S-Lab will jointly host a conference and exhibition covering the design and operation of research labs, incubators and science park facilities on 9-10 May

S-Lab: Supporting World Class Science is once again jointly organising a Conference, Exhibition and Gala Dinner on 9-10 May, at York Racecourse. The event is entitled Science, Innovation and Translation: The Design and Operation of Research Laboratoires, Incubators and Science Parks.

This year the event is being organised in partnership with: The United Kingdom Science Park Association; The International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation; Innovation DB Forum; Praxis Unico; and York Science Park.

The organisers expect around 400 key stakeholders in the design, financing, managing and operation of life science, physical science, translational research and innovation facilities in universities and industry sectors.

An exhibition with space for 50-60 stands will take place alongside the two-day event. In addition, a gala dinner for around 300 attendees will take place on the 9th May. The dinner will include presentations to the winners of the 2017 S-Lab and UKSPA Awards.

Conference topics

Topics covered by the conference will include good practice in setting up and managing innovation facilities in the UK and North America. The conference will also include a keynote by Dr David Cantor, ex Pfizer VP, and now Senior Associate Vice President, University of Michigan and Executive Director of its 185,000m North Campus Research Complex.

The two-day pesentation programme will also include cases studies from facilities around the world illustrating best practice in lab design, lab effectivenss, energy efficency and environmental performace.
