Laetus, a leading provider of pharmaceutical packaging security systems has introduced the ARGUS INSPECT wt solution, a flexible and modular, web-based camera system designed to guarantee packaging security by verifying barcode print quality.
The advanced INSPECT wt not only reads one and two-dimensional barcodes quickly and reliably, but also delivers the capability to grade barcodes qualitatively. It thus claims to be the first system to eliminate ineffective codes from entering the supply chain by failing those that fall below a pre-defined quality level. Manufacturers are therefore able to provide an assurance of barcode functionality and legibility at the point of despatch.
The INSPECT wt offers reliable print control (OCV/OCR), which thanks to an advanced software algorithm, offers greater functionality than other systems. In addition, its ability to read data and provide it as information to a database means the INSPECT wt is prepared for full track and trace capability with OCR and all bar code types. This is a key advantage over those systems that can only identify pre-set Alpha-numeric characters as either good or bad values, the company says.
As an all-in-one, enclosed camera system, the INSPECT wt delivers a cost saving to pharmaceutical manufacturers by avoiding the need for a separate laser scanner and camera. Furthermore, illumination is provided within the same unit, which avoids the need for repositioning.
Unlike systems that require mechanical adjustments - which are less easily validated - the INSPECT wt enables validation to be correctly achieved thanks to its enclosed design which operates numerically and in configuration with recordable and reproducible values.
Designed for smaller fields of view, the INSPECT wt can check packaging from multiple perspectives and enables up to four high-resolution camera images (up to four megapixels) to be displayed simultaneously on the same monitor. It can be used as a standalone system or as part of a networked solution offering easy-handling and monitoring, using the Laetus Navigator browser, which operates in conjunction with all Laetus packaging control systems.
