Construction work has started for new Wisconsin manufacturing space for FDA-regulated products

Phillips-Medisize, the global end-to-end solutions provider, has celebrated the groundbreaking of a new manufacturing facility in the US. Located in the St. Croix Meadows redevelopment in Hudson, Wisconsin, the site is expected to support at least 230,000 sqft of manufacturing space for FDA-regulated products.

A Molex company, Phillips-Medisize was founded in the town of Phillips, Wisconsin, over five decades ago. The company currently employs more than 5,500 people at 26 manufacturing sites around the world.

This new Phillips-Medisize facility will be situated on a 34-acre site in St. Croix Meadows redevelopment and the company said this is its single largest operation in Wisconsin with the opportunity to expand.

"We are proud to invest in growing Phillips-Medisize's manufacturing presence in our founding state of Wisconsin," said Matt Jennings, CEO and President. "Hudson has been home to Phillips-Medisize for the past 36 years, so we are excited to reinforce our commitment to the vibrant community with our St. Croix Meadows facility," Jennings commented, adding that the company expects to support over 250 employment opportunities for area residents in jobs, ranging from skilled manufacturing to engineering.

For Jennings, the new site also "reaffirms our commitment to better serve customers as a global end-to-end provider of innovation, development and manufacturing solutions".

The Phillips-Medisize St. Croix Meadows manufacturing facility will be FDA-registered, adhering to cleanroom practices, and featuring state-of-the-art equipment to meet quality production standards.

Phillips- Medisize said its St. Croix Meadows facility is due for completion in the late 2019 to mid-2020 timeframe.

Community friendly

St. Croix Meadows is situated just across the St. Croix River from the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro. Currently, under development, the site consists of 130 acres (12.1 ha) and will cost between US$175 million and $225m at completion.

According to the redevelopment plan, the site will be a community friendly, urban style environment with the buildings complementing the walking paths and ponds.

St. Croix Meadows redevelopment will include a baseball field and stadium; a brewery; hotel; restaurants and offices in the initial phase of construction.

Lote 1, allocated for light industrial and manufacturing, covers 21.57 acres (8.7 ha).
