Source BioScience, a UK-based healthcare and biotechnology company, has opened a DNA sequencing laboratory in Dublin, Ireland.

The facility is housed within Trinity College Dublin and provides a platform from which the firm will increase its presence in the Irish life science research market.

Source BioScience operates a network of DNA sequencing and genotyping facilities in the UK, based on a central reference laboratory hub in Nottingham with satellite operations in Cambridge University, Oxford University and University College London.

The company is providing infrastructure and technology in addition to employing technical staff to operate the Dublin facility, with further support available from its main laboratory in Nottingham.

Under an agreement with Trinity College Dublin, Source BioScience will offer DNA sequencing to customers within the university and provide access to other services such as its next-generation DNA sequencing and genotyping platforms in Nottingham.

Dr Nick Ash, managing director of Source BioScience, said: "Irish laboratories have an outstanding reputation in life science research and there was an obvious unmet need for a high quality local service provider. We are happy to take on that role and are already producing high quality data for our customers in Ireland."
