An adapter is used to change the drop height from 14mm to 3mm. When the TD 1 detects the presence of the adapter, it will only allow the user either to perform a USP 2 test or define a user method with customised parameters.

The TD 1 has a digital LCD display, an Ethernet port for a printer and an RS232 port for balance connection. The last ten reports, giving the serial number of the instrument, the method parameters, the test results, calculation of tapped density, compressibility index and Hausner ratio, are saved in the instrument's memory. They can be printed out either on a local or network printer.

The 100ml and 250ml cylinders are placed onto easy to lock holders, which allow them to rotate freely. The weight of the holders complies with pharmacopeia requirements.
