Univar breaks fund-raising record at golf day

Raises £23,000 for The Prostate Project

Univar’s Charity Golf Day has broken all previous records and raised more than £32,000 for The Prostate Project, a UK-based charity researching prostate cancer.

The tournament between employees, suppliers and customers of the global chemical distributor involved 75 golfers from the UK, mainland Europe, the US and Dubai. They were all keen to win the Univar U+ trophy.

The match play was followed by a charity auction, dinner and raffle. Tickets to the Masters 2011 raised the most – £3,500 – for The Prostate Project. Tickets to see Manchester United, Chelsea, the England vs. South Africa rugby match and hospitality tickets for the first day of the Oval test match were also on offer in addition to signed golfing memorabilia.

‘It has been very rewarding to raise funds for such an important cause,’ said David Jukes, vice president, Sales and Marketing, Univar Europe, Middle East and Africa. ‘Our commitment to the local community and those less fortunate than ourselves is one of the things that makes Univar such a special place to work.’

Thermphos International, a regular supporter of Univar’s fundraising events, won the tournament, which took place at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel and Country Club in Warwickshire on the Arden Championship Course.
