To expand its technical and custom assembly services in the UK
VWR International, a US-based global supplier and distributor of laboratory products, has acquired Lab3, a distributor of scientific laboratory supplies headquartered in Bristol, UK, for an undisclosed sum.
Lab3 is a distributor of laboratory consumables, chemicals and equipment, and a provider of laboratory technical services in the UK.
The company is an existing distributor of VWR products in the UK and also has a base in Northampton.
Lab3 also provides custom labelling and installation services and is an established provider of technical services including calibration and repair on a broad array of laboratory equipment.
‘Lab3 is recognised nationally throughout the UK for its broad technical services capability and as a well-respected distributor for VWR regionally,’ said Manuel Brocke-Benz, CEO, senior vice president and managing director of European Operations.
‘This acquisition will enable VWR to expand its portfolio of technical services and custom kitting/assembly services in the UK to serve our customers better.’
VWR International headquartered in Radnor, Pennsylvania, US, is a global laboratory supply and distribution company with worldwide sales in excess of US$4.1bn in 2011.
