2D code extending its market penetration

The combination of high and flexible data capacity, high security and low space requirement have established the 2D code as part of Denny Bros' securi-scan system. The format of the code incorporates a high level of redundancy, meaning that even damaged or partially-obscured codes can be read by the Laetus 2D-Cosi 800.

Denny has installed 2D-Cosi 800 scanners as part of an Argus system within its securi-scan system. The Argus system is capable of scanning single codes on labels but also double codes for leaflet to label verification.

The 2D code is designed for in-house allocation, meaning that users can tailor its content to match their own management information requirements, without reference to external bodies. For example, when GSK found its three of nine barcodes were becoming too big and intrusive for pre-delivery scanning guarantees of packaging components by suppliers, Denny created 2D data matrix codes from GSK's label stock code number. The 2D code measures just 2.5 x 2.5mm in its smallest execution. Additionally, colour features around the central matrix maximise security, verifying that all essential colours have been printed.
