France Biotech is the French biotechnology association whose mission is to increase France's appeal as biotechnology centre and thereby to contribute to making France and Europe leaders in the life sciences industry.

It aims to do this by:

Improving the academic r&d dynamics and funding.

Ensuring a chain of financing for young biotechnology companies (from seed funding to the stock market), including designing and proposing the JEI scheme in association with the Strategic Council for Innovation. More recently, France Biotech was instrumental in an initiative that led to the commitment by the life insurance companies to invest an additional Euro 6bn in private equity.

Stimulating a dynamic European Stock Market for developing SMEs into world leaders with the Young Listed Company status (JEC) that offers fiscal incentives to interest institutional investors and stock-market investors in young growing technological companies.

Working on the managerial environment through members' networking, benchmarking activities, good practices sharing, etc.

Improving public perception. In 2004 the association organised BioPicture Festival, the first international film and image festival on biotechnology, to convey a positive image of life sciences among the general public.

France Biotech has 150 members, representing most of the French biotechnology investments, pipeline and employees.
