Speciality chemical manufacturer Rohm & Haas, working alongside engineering partner ABB, has installed Elfab Amourgraph graphite bursting discs with Integral Flo-Tel detection as part of the recent upgrade of it Jarrow facility, a top-tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazard Regulations 1999) site manufacturing biocides and ion exchange resins.
The switch to Elfab Amourgraph discs is expected to increase the reliability of the burst-detection system, bringing it into line with new EU directives such as ATEX, increasing levels of protection against accidental release, and alleviating problems normally associated with traditional graphite discs, such as sensitivity to misaligned flanges and over-torque.
The Elfab G3A Amourgraph bursting disc, with its steel body construction and non-invasive fully reusable ATEX Zone 0-approved Integral Flo-Tel detector that operates only when the disc has ruptured, eliminates the possibility of any false alarms.
