Albemarle Corporation expands French facility

Albemarle Corporation, of the US, is expanding its services of the research and kilo labs and pilot plant at its facility in Thann, France. The expansion allows Albemarle to focus on its pharmaceutical and agricultural customers, offering them global services and products from initial bench research to piloting and commercial production. The Thann facilities will be committed to providing contract r&d services to the European fine chemical market, as well as supporting new products planned for the Thann site.

The units offer sample preparation from laboratory scale (10-100g) through kilo lab scale (0.5-10kg) to pilot scale (100-1000kg), and complement existing commercial scale operations (>1000kg). 'The full range of production capacities offered on the single site affords the customer a smooth transition as developments progress,' said Joe Tedder, business director, fine chemistry services and intermediates division.

'The Thann team is also supported by an experienced team in the US, offering a similar range of production capacities at multiple production sites,' he added.
