Avecia invests in Canadian r&d
Avecia is to expand the r&d facilities of Torcan Chemical in Aurora, ON, Canada, at a cost of some C$6million. The early-phase pharmaceutical process development concern will have research and scale-up laboratories and expanded quality control and analytical facilites in a new 8,000ft2 building. As a result of this, the company plans to recruit 24 new research and laboratory staff. Avecia bought Torcan last year for C$60million as part of a push into the North American market.
