AZ increases word power
AstraZeneca is to provide a £60,000, four-year grant to BookPower, a non-profit organisation that provides medical and nursing textbooks at a subsidised price to students in Africa. The AZ grant will be used to fund medical texts
covering cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, immunology and infection.
'Textbooks are often the only medium of instruction to medical students in most of the developing world, yet the provision of textbooks globally is far below the necessary standard,' said Dr Barry Furr, head of the project evaluation group, AZ.
BookPower is a unique charity that provides quality, affordable textbooks for tertiary students in developing countries.
