BASF supports Childrens' Villages

Instead of Christmas presents for business associates this year, BASF's Intermediates operating division provided a sum of €10,000 to help support children living in an SOS Childrens' Village in Putian, China.

SOS Childrens' Villages, initiated in 1949 and founded in China in 1985, aim to give children who have lost their parents or who are no longer able to live with them, a permanent home and a stable environment.

The company says the decision shows how seriously BASF takes its social responsibility, particularly in China, where its Intermediates division is due to bring six new world scale plants onstream in 2005.
