Bayer will now turn its attention to the other pending Baycol cases to analyse the specific circumstances of each case and the nature of the claims. The company says it intends to pursue its policy of seeking to fairly compensate anyone who experienced serious side effects from Baycol, 'regardless of whether we have valid legal defenses to such claims'.

But where an examination of the facts indicates that Baycol played no role in the patient's medical situation, or where a settlement is not achieved, Bayer says it will continue to defend itself vigorously as it did in the Corpus Christi case.
