Bayer HealthCare achieves corporate independence

The Bayer Group has reached another milestone in its corporate reorganisation with Bayer HealthCare, Bayer Chemicals and Bayer Technology Services all achieving legal independence.


The Bayer Group has reached another milestone in its corporate reorganisation with Bayer HealthCare, Bayer Chemicals and Bayer Technology Services all achieving legal independence.

'With this new corporate structure, we are creating the basis for future success,' said Werner Wenning, chairman of the board of management of Bayer AG. 'The new structure promotes these units' individual responsibility, thereby reinforcing their entrepreneurial approach. Our aim is to exploit the potential of our businesses to the full in order to create value and achieve a sustainable improvement in performance.'

Bayer HealthCare brings together all the healthcare activities of the Bayer Group worldwide, including its pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, biological products, consumer care and animal health divisions. The new subgroup also includes the German affiliates Bayer Vital and KVP Kieler Pharma + Veterinaerprodukte, along with numerous foreign subsidiaries. Bayer HealthCare currently employs about 34,000 people worldwide and had sales in 2002 of €9.4bn.
