Beatson's new 30ml bottle for Boots

Having successfully secured the contract to supply a range of 12 and 24 bottle dispensing packs for Boots The Chemists (BTC), glass packaging manufacturer Beatson Clark has been asked to produce another new pharmaceutical bottle for the UK high street giant.

Based in Rotherham, the company is currently working with Boots to design and produce a bespoke 30ml bottle to be used in all its pharmacies. More than four and a half million of the new bottles will be produced every year, with production scheduled to commence mid- to late summer 2005.

BTC asked Beatson Clark to design and produce the new bottle because the International Standard Sirop bottle that it is currently using does not have a large enough label area. Beatson Clark has increased the label height by more than 80%. Both the standard and bespoke bottles have a 28ROPP neck.

The bottles will be designed and manufactured at Beatson Clark's Rotherham plant, which is currently the subject of a £12m (€17.4m) investment programme that started in 2004 and will continue throughout 2005.

'The pharmaceutical industry is a key market sector for Beatson Clark and once the design and production of the new 30ml bottle for Boots is complete it will be available on general sale to the whole of the pharmaceutical industry,' said Beatson Clark sales and marketing director, Lynn Sidebottom.
