Biacore is preferred by BI for analytical kit

Biacore has just undergone a supplier audit to become an approved supplier of analytical equipment to Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma for biopharmaceutical drug development, in-process controls and routine quality control procedures.

The two companies entered a technology collaboration at the end of 1999 to co-develop a specific system to improve the quality of data and increase time and resource efficiencies in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. The resulting systems are now up and running at Boehringer Ingelheim's facility in Biberach, Germany, where they will be used as dedicated instrumentation for measuring protein concentration process control and quality control procedures.

Two Biocore systems were evaluated over a six month period, and the resulting improvements have already seen the systems replace the ELISA-based assay technology previously used for routine analysis at the facility.
