Biosynth has announced it is expanding its portfolio of complex chemical raw materials for biologics, vaccines and advanced therapies, with new fluorinated sugars and GMP-grade Poly(I) among the additions being showcased at this year's CPHI Milan show.
The Swiss life sciences supplier will present the expanded portfolio at Booth 10M62 from October 6-8, alongside its broader chemical manufacturing and custom production capabilities.
Expanded Glyco-Toolbox to support glycoengineering
A key focus will be Biosynth’s expanded Glyco-Toolbox, which brings together speciality sugars, nucleotide sugars, glycans, glycoenzymes, analytical standards, fluorinated sugars and custom manufacturing capabilities.
The platform has been designed to support developers working across glycoscience and bioprocess development, including the characterisation and engineering of glycosylation.
Biosynth said the latest addition of fluorinated sugars provides tools for investigating glycosylation pathways and could support the optimisation of bioproduction workflows.
Glycosylation is an increasingly important consideration in the development and manufacture of biologics, where controlling glycan profiles can influence product quality, consistency and other critical attributes.
GMP-grade Poly(I) targets clinical-stage development
Biosynth will also introduce GMP-grade Poly(I) (polyinosinic acid), a synthetic double-stranded RNA analogue used in applications involving innate immune activation, vaccines and immunotherapy.
Making the material available at GMP grade is intended to support programmes progressing from research and development towards clinical development and manufacturing.
According to Biosynth, production under its quality systems is designed to provide consistency, traceability and supply continuity as programmes mature.
Holger Olbrück, Vice President, Strategic Accounts at Biosynth, said the increasing complexity of pharmaceutical development is driving demand for specialised chemistry, reliable raw materials and manufacturing expertise that can support programmes as they evolve.
Our goal is to provide the technical capabilities and dependable supply our customers need to move complex programmes forward.
"From glycoengineering and bioconjugation to custom chemistry and precision manufacturing, Biosynth brings together the expertise and capabilities needed to support customers from development through commercialisation.”
The CPHI announcement also coincides with Biosynth’s 60th anniversary. CEO Matt Gunnison said the company would use its experience and continued investment in people, capabilities and partnerships to respond to changing customer requirements.
Sixty years is a significant milestone. But what matters most is how we build upon our collective experience, developed over those years, to shape what comes next.
