Blisterpack is senior friendly and child-safe
US company Shorewood Packaging, a business of International Paper, has launched a child-resistant/senior friendly (CR/SF) pharmaceutical blister packaging system. The patented Bend & Peel product line was developed by Intini Marketing of Canada, and meets the new Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) regulations, title 16, part 1700 for CR/SF packaging at the F=1 level, the safest US government rating for healthcare packaging. In the tests, 99% of seniors could open the package, while 92% of children could not.
According to Keith Kiedinger, Shorewood sales vice president for healthcare packaging: 'the genius of this packaging system is its simple and effective design. The Bend & Peel design can be incorporated in any current blister packaging, creating a virtually unlimited range of uses and design applications. A company's existing tooling and filling lines can be used with little or no adjustment.'
Bend & Peel was designed for prescription, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs and physicians' samples, as well as for clinical trials, research studies and post-marketing studies. It can be used with International Paper's Everest Seal-Pak tear-resistant blister board.
