CBI forecasts sluggish growth
Economic growth in the UK will be sluggish for the rest of 2001, but manufacturing will start to come out of technical recession by the end of the year and output growth will revive in 2002, says the CBI. The confederation forecasts that GDP will rise 2% this year as a result of the worldwide slowdown and the effects of FMD. That compares with the 3.1% average in 2000.
