Chambers boost growth

Published: 1-May-2003

Iwaki chamber slides from Bibby Sterilin's cell biology plasticware range enable the user to culture, fix, stain and observe cells, all on one slide. The slides are available in chamber formats of one, two, four or eight, and each individual chamber allows for simultaneous multicultures.

The chamber slides are also ideal for promoting uniform growth of small cultures for research purposes and in cases where only a minute sample is available. During microscopic analysis, the viewing of cells is said to be easier and more accurate than with conventional culture plates and flasks. A non-toxic silicone adhesive attaches the polystyrene chambers to the glass base; for viewing under the microscope they are manually removed from the slide. To ensure maximum adherence of the cells to the glass surface, the slides are also available coated with polylysine, but protein substrate coatings can be supplied on request.
