Christ expands its range

Swiss water technology group Christ has introduced Vapotron VT and Multitron MT, the first ultra-pure steam generators and distillation units manufactured in-house. The company is therefore now able to offer a one-stop-shop for all sectors of water treatment from Purified Water (PW) to Water for Injection (WFI).

The Vapotron VT generates sterile steam that is free of pyrogenic substances, and is particularly suitable for SIP systems, humidification of cleanrooms and the operation of steam sterilisers. The system, which normally uses PW, can deliver 50-5000kg/hr of ultrapure steam. It features short heat-exchanger tubes with floating integration of the exchanger elements; this reduces thermal and mechanical stresses and increases the operating lifetime of the units, the company says.

The Multitron MT distillation units use new technology that enables cooling-water consumption to be reduced by 25% and steam consumption by 20%. This is achieved by the Combical concept, a combined cooler and heater that preheats the incoming water and ensures optimal utilisation of the condensate. Furthermore, a triple drop separator guarantees the separation of small and large drops of water in ultra-pure quality.

The distillation units consist of up to nine columns, according to customer requirements, and have an output of 100-15000kg of distillate per hour. The size of the first column can be adapted to the actual requirement for ultrapure steam or WFI, frequently obviating the need for a separate ultrapure steam generator.
