CIA calls for more dialogue
The UK Chemical Industries Association (CIA) re-emphasised the need for dialogue between employers and trade unions at the Labour Relations Committee 2001 in Vienna last month. 'International dialogue between employers and trade unions in the global chemical industry is to be welcomed provided it is based around the sustainability of the enterprise,' said Dr Anil Kumar, CIA director of People, Knowledge and Communication. The global conference of chemical employers discussed engagement with representatives of the workforce. 'Employers may be more willing to listen to unions if there is a wider understanding and appreciation that employment comes from successful enterprises,' Dr Kumar added.
