CIA to separate out SORIS
The UK Chemical Industries Association (CIA) has said it intends to place the Specialised Organics Information Service (Soris) outside its operations. The CIA is to invite interested organisations to put forward proposals for the operation of Soris, and expects to issue a prospectus and timetable regarding the takeover soon.
Retired CIA director David Culpin will work as a consultant on the matter and will take part in a small advisory panel, which is expected to include members from Socsa's management team and the Soris user group. Under the transfer deal, the CIA hopes to free itself from financial responsibility for Soris, continue Soris' operations within the UK chemical industry, and accommodate existing Soris staff in the deal.
