Clinpharm and Covance tie-up

Published: 1-Oct-2003

India's pioneer clinical research organisation Siro Clinpharm has signed a strategic alliance with New Jersey-based Covance, the world's largest drug development services company. The collaboration will offer services to support and enhance the drug development initiatives of the domestic and international r&d-based pharmaceutical companies in India. The alliance, which was signed in July, will bring to India Covance's extensive expertise in drug development and access to global resources.

The association with Covance means that Siro Clinpharm is now positioned to address the global drug development aspirations of the Indian pharma industry, as well as facilitating Covance's international trials in India. The country is growing as a strategically important location for global clinical trials thanks to its large patient pool and the currently liberalised policies in this area.

Based in Mumbai, Siro Clinpharm was established in 1995 and has extensive experience of running ICH compliant good clinical practice (GCP) trials in the local market. The synergy of this experience and Covance's global resources and expertise is expected to enhance the services of the company in India.
