A UK-based biopharmaceuticals company has received an industry excellence award for its contribution to the manufacturing sector.
Cobra Biomanufacturing, based in Keele, was named Best Contract Manufacturing Organisation at the Vaccine Industry Excellence (ViE), beating four other finalists in the category.
The company's chief operating officer, Simon Saxby said: "The award for Best Contract Manufacturing Organisation endorses Cobra's vision to deliver a best-in-class service to our clients. This has been achieved through the expertise and experience of Cobra's people and I must thank them for their continued dedication to our clients.
He added: "The award supports Cobra's global reputation for the manufacture of proteins, viruses, DNA and live cells for clinical trials, including Phase III and pre-market material, at its cGMP manufacturing facilities in Keele and Oxford, UK."
The awards were presented at a spectacular gala dinner at the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, Virginia, USA, as part of the World Vaccine Congress.
