Contra pump range centres on hygiene

Contra is a newly developed, hygienic range of sterile, centrifugal pumps from Hilge. Available as a single or multi-stage design, the pump is manufactured in 316L low carbon stainless steel to ensure total material integrity with a fissure-free, smooth surface finish.

The blades of the impellers and the inter-stage housings are an open design, milled from solid material, while the O-ring seal on the casings and the impellers of the multi-stage pump are gap free with defined compression for hygienic metal-to-metal contact. This guarantees thorough cleanability and sterilisation for CIP and SIP processes.

The Contra range offers a flow rate up to 35m³/hr and a differential head up to 15 bar. It has a maximum working temperature of 140°C and a maximum working pressure of 16 bar. The pumps are suitable for all high pressure applications, the company says, including CIP feed duties, pure water ring mains and sterile process systems.
