Contract services from Sauflon Pharma
Since its formation in 1985, Sauflon Pharmaceuticals, based in Ashford, Kent, UK, has focused its efforts on becoming the UK market leader in the contact lens sector, including manufacturing some of the UK's top sterile contact lens care solutions. To further expand its pharmaceutical operations, Sauflon has recruited Rob Jones as general sales manager of Sauflon Contract Pharmaceutical Services.
The company has been providing a contract manufacturing service for the UK Government and blue chip pharmaceutical organisations using its manufacturer's licence for both human and veterinary sterile products and a Home Office licence for controlled drugs.
With 20 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry, working for both Unilever and Boots, Jones has extensive experience in contract services, and will be promoting the company's business in this area. He said: 'As a privately owned British company which prides itself on its flexibility and speed of response, I am looking to expand the business in three sectors. Firstly we shall be focusing on our parenterals interests; secondly we want to increase our ophthalmics volumes over the next few years, and finally we shall be enhancing our medical device services.'
Sauflon Pharmaceuticals' facility in Ashford has a number of cleanrooms used for the production of ampoules, vials, eye drops, large volume sterile solutions, tube filled sterile semi-solids, aerosols and the manipulation, packing and sterilising of medical devices.
