Corning and DSM in pilot operation of industrial-scale microreactor
Corning and DSM Pharma Chemicals have published a joint paper describing a successful, commercially viable demonstration of Corning's microreactor technology for cGMP production.
Corning and DSM Pharma Chemicals have published a joint paper describing a successful, commercially viable demonstration of Corning's microreactor technology for cGMP production.
Teams from the two companies have demonstrated a reliable, industrial-scale operation of a hazardous nitration reaction under cGMP conditions, processing more than 25 tonnes of material in only four weeks. Corning's microreactor technology showed capability to handle 800 tonnes of process fluids per year, assuming 8,000 hours of continuous operation.
Corning's proprietary microreactor processing technology is said to be compact, adaptable and scalable, optimising the cost of manufacturing and overall quality of high-value speciality, fine and pharmaceutical chemicals and combined with Corning's design and engineering expertise, can provide a customised reactor solution to meet specific chemistry needs.
