Pickering Laboratories, a specialist in the design, manufacture and supply of post-column derivatisation instruments and consumables, has launched a rugged, low-cost post-column system for high-throughput analysis of target compounds.
Compatible with all major HPLC systems, the Vector PCX is easy to use and will identify and separate an array of difficult-to-detect compounds under chemical analysis and at low cost, utilising a number of established post-column methods. Pickering describes the device as "economically feasible for institutions that make only periodic use of post-column instrumentation".
Replacing the PCX5200, the Vector PCX provides easy migration for existing customers with an even simpler user interface and serviceability, without sacrificing sensitivity. Engineered for durability, it features column pressure interlock to permit unattended operation with controlled shutdown, preventing reagent backup into the column, while its automatic piston seal wash ensures long seal life. Backflow protection and overpressure relief extend the lifetime of both the column and post-column instrumentation, and reagent reservoirs pressurised by inert gas extend the working life of oxygen-sensitive reagents and enhance pump performance.
