Direvo Industrial Biotechnology has moved to new premises at the BioCampus Cologne, Germany and has named its core laboratory after its co-founder and shareholder, Nobel Laureate Professor Manfred Eigen. His scientific discoveries and inventions laid the foundations for Direvo's technology.

Direvo Industrial Biotechnology was founded in July 2008 as a spin out from Direvo Biotech and sold in September last year, just prior to the acquisition of the parent company by Bayer HealthCare. Since then Direvo has built its own high-throughput screening technology, which is able to handle up to 150,000 individual screenings per day, making it a powerful tool for the screening of customised enzymes and strains with improved characteristics.

The technology behind this facility was transferred from Direvo Biotech (now BayerScheringPharma) and former colleagues there provided significant support in setting up Direvo's new platform.

Direvo serves the chemical/biorefinery businesses, as well as the feed and food industries.
