EC sets up committee of experts in rare diseases
The European Committee has established a European Committee of Experts on Rare Diseases to advise on relevant policy development and help operate programmes.
The European Committee has established a European Committee of Experts on Rare Diseases to advise on relevant policy development and help operate programmes.
The committee will have one representative per European country from ministries or government agencies responsible for rare diseases; patient organisation members; pharmaceutical industry appointees; and European Union (EU) rare disease experts.
The EC says the committee will "assist..in formulating and implementing EU activities in the field of rare diseases. It should help all EU countries to tackle rare diseases more evenly and effectively and maximise the limited resources available by avoiding fragmented efforts and duplication."
