EMEA sets out bird flu action plan

The European Medicines Agency (EMEA) has released detailed plans on dealing with a serious EU bird flu outbreak.

It would set up three crisis teams: a 'gold' team, making key operational decisions; a 'silver' team, reviewing dossiers, checking drug effectiveness and making inspections; and a 'bronze' team of science administrators dedicated to pandemic fieldwork. The plan details the tasks allotted to these teams.

EMEA has also developed a detailed communications strategy to issue timely advice on treating any pandemic.
