The joint venture operated by the European Commission (EC) and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations wants research consortia to bid for funding on nine topics. The EC is contributing Euro 76.8m matched by in-kind donations from pharmaceutical companies.
Three topics would improve knowledge management, focusing on improving data standards to help evaluate new medicine efficacy and safety of new medicines and ease the sharing of information accelerating drug development.
The six other topics focus on improving drugs against cancer, inflammatory and infectious diseases.
