In addition to technological advances, 'usability' is a priority in all designs, as scientists can be required to perform thousands of pipetting actions each day, which can lead to repetitive strain injuries.
The Finnpipette range, including the manual Focus and electronic Novus models, is designed to fit to the contours of the hand and the various uses within a laboratory; whether the user is pipetting once a day or throughout the day.
The manual Focus pipettes are available in short or long tip cones, variable or fixed volumes, and as single, eight, 12 and 16 multi-channel pipettes. Fully autoclavable with a carefully designed body to make prolonged use easier, they make volume selection fast and simple, with coarse and fine control. They also employ soft touch tip ejection, which requires very little force.
All of the features introduced with previous manual and electronic Finnpipettes are matched in the Novus models, but are enhanced with an adjustable finger rest. The company claims they are the lightest single and multi-channel electronic pipettes available. The two level software and user interface simplify most pipetting jobs, with functions such as 'mix & dilute' enabling the aspiration and mixing of two different reagents without the need for a change of setting.
