Fisher Scientific opens new small-scale facility

Fisher Scientific has officially opened its new small-scale chemical manufacturing facility in Loughborough. It offers custom synthesis service and has already produced some commercially available and novel organic intermediates.

Designed to manufacture chemicals up to the 20 litre scale, the facility is capable of performing all laboratory-based organic chemistry processes. Its laboratories contain 20 walk-in fume hoods, and portable bench surfaces can be added. Analytic capabilities include HPLC and gas chromatography.

'This new small-scale facility further enhances our range of services,' said Leland Foster, president and ceo of the Fisher Biochemicals group, who opened the new laboratories. 'The facility is already working on a number of key projects and our continuing commitment to high standards ensures its work is second to none.'
