Flexmed gears up for digital print era

Flexmed, a flexible materials suppliers to the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry, expects to complete a €1.6m investment at its new subsidiary, Flexmed Digital, based in Sunne, Sweden, in January 2006. Built to the same cleanroom standards (ISO/DIS 15378 (PS9000)) as those used within the pharma industry, applications include the printing of packaging materials for sterile products, as well as for all types of devices and pharmaceuticals.

Part of the investment includes the latest digital technology, which can significantly reduce the amount of time necessary to create a new print design and thus the time to market.

'The increased pace of new product development coupled with more niche marketing means that the industry needs access to this kind of service,' said Eva Loven, managing director at Flexmed Digital. 'Our services are particularly suitable for printing small batches in a cost-effective way, removing the need for manufacturers to have in-line printing. We can also support contract packers under pressure to quicken delivery times.'
