Formatech and Abbott Laboratories form alliance to expand services...

Formatech and Abbott Laboratories have made a strategic alliance to address the pharmaceutical and biotech industry needs in the area of product development for clinical supply and commercial manufacturing in accordance with current good manufacturing practices (cGMP).

The alliance between Formatech and Abbott's One 2 One Global Pharmaceutical Services group will offer pharmaceutical and biotech clients access to high quality services in the areas of formulation and product development, cGMP clinical supply manufacturing and commercial manufacturing. Formatech, which operates a contract Aseptic Fill Manufacturing facility in Andover, MA, US, focuses on clinical trial material. The clinical supply manufacturing facility has the capability to aseptically fill liquid and manufacture lyophilized final dosage units. Abbott One 2 One is a world leader in full-service parenteral contract manufacturing, with a broad line of drug delivery systems and integrated manufacturing solutions.

'This combined service offering, by this alliance, emphasises each company's commitment to quality service in contract product development, clinical supply manufacturing and commercialisation for the biotech and pharmaceutical industries,' said Ben Isaacs, president of Formatech. 'Each company complements the other with its service offering in critical segments of the product development and commercialisation process.'

Abbott One 2 One Global Pharmaceutical Services, a business unit of Abbott's Hospital Products Division, provides contract manufacturing services to more than 40 pharmaceutical and biotech companies worldwide.
