The collagen and gelatin specialist GELITA has expanded its offering with the launch of MEDELLAPRO Ultra Low Endotoxin gelatin, which the company says features less than ten endotoxin units per gram.
The new excipient will enable the development of advanced, sensitive biomedical products, from surgical sealants and hemostatic agents to scaffolds and drug delivery systems.
This launch expands the company's Endotoxin Controlled Excipients (ECE) portfolio, which includes excipients designed to ensure maximum safety, biocompatibility and regulatory compliance.
GELITA said in its statement that these products could pave the way for "breakthroughs in drug delivery, vaccine stabilisation, tissue engineering, 3D bioprinting and regenerative medicine," with researchers and manufacturers benefiting from reliable, high-purity ingredients.
The firm added that it will be showcasing its latest advancements in excipient technology at BIO International 2026 in San Diego (Booth 3335-DF), featuring the following two flagship products from the ECE portfolio:
- MEDELLAPRO (gelatin)
- VACCIPRO (collagen peptides): trusted for stabilising vaccines and injectables, VACCIPRO offers low allergenic potential, high tolerability and protection for sensitive molecules.
GELITA is also advancing biotechnological processes to develop animal-free, recombinant collagen proteins, which it says will offer resource-efficient and sustainable solutions for the future.
As part of the conference programme, GELITA will host a scientific lecture titled: "The Role of Non-Animal Recombinant Collagen Proteins in Biomedical Applications: From Vaccine Stabilization to Artificial Organs."
It will be presented by Dr Michelle Montgomery, Senior Manager, R&D, GELITA, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 2:45 PM, in Theatre 4.
Visitors to BIO International 2026 are invited to visit GELITA at Booth 3335-DF in the German Pavilion to discover how MEDELLAPRO and VACCIPRO are shaping the future of vaccine development, medical devices and biomedical innovation.
