Gerresheimer Group acquires Superfos Pharma
German glass and plastics pharma packaging group Gerresheimer has acquired Superfos Pharma, a leading European supplier of pharmaceutical plastic containers and closure systems.
German glass and plastics pharma packaging group Gerresheimer has acquired Superfos Pharma, a leading European supplier of pharmaceutical plastic containers and closure systems.
The acquisition marks another important step in Gerresheimer's expansion in pharmaceutical packaging and systems and follows pharma business acquisitions in the US and China in October 2005.
Superfos Pharma is based in Vaerlose, Denmark. It has 120 employees and has two production locations in Denmark and various marketing offices in Europe.

We are expanding our technological base and creating new growth opportunities,' said Gerresheimer ceo Dr Axel Herberg.
The two October acquisitions increase the company's pharmaceutical sales by more than Euro 70m. 'Superfos Pharma provides an ideal fit with the plastic operations of the Gerresheimer subsidiaries Bunder Glas and Polfa, which are being integrated in a strong Group,' added Herberg.
