Gilson creates a stir

An ultra-flat magnetic stirrer for efficient mixing of media or dissolving materials in a solution is now available through Anachem Bioscience, of Luton in the UK. The new Gilson Labstir's small, light and flat benchtop design is said to be easy to use, to move and store.

Labstir is the first product in the new line of bench top laboratory equipment from Gilson to complement its liquid handling range.

Mixing is accomplished by placing a stirring bar that rotates under the influence of a magnetic field. Labstir is chemically compatible with most acids, bases and buffers, and even with corrosive solutions. Its frictionless design with no moving parts helps prevent heat transfer to the solution even when mixing for prolonged periods.
