High throughput spectrometer speeds drug discovery

Published: 1-Oct-2005

Thermo Electron Corporation has introduced three new mass spectrometers, including the Finnigan LXQ linear ion trap mass spectrometer, for high-throughput drug discovery and proteomics.

The Finnigan LXQ advances high-throughput drug discovery and proteomics by making linear trap performance a cost-effective option for fast-paced analytical laboratories. The patented ion trap technology delivers ultra fast cycle times and improved ion statistics, resulting in superior sensitivity and speed over 3D ion traps, the company says.

Also launched is the Delta V series of gas isotope ratio mass spectrometers, which includes the Delta V Advantage and the Delta V Plus, in a new compact design, and the DFS high-resolution double-focusing magnetic sector GC-MS - the most sensitive instrument for target compound analysis on the market.
