Honeywell's Industry Solutions business introduced its new Process Knowledge Solution (PKS) for asset effectiveness at Achema.
It features application software integrated with asset information, the Experion Process Knowledge System platform, and Honeywell's global service expertise. The company claims that businesses can expect to achieve a financial impact ranging from $500,000 to more than US$54m for a full-scale implementation during the first year.
Honeywell's PKS for asset effectiveness aligns well in the area of lifecycle management and its largest segment, maintenance and operation management. It has been estimated that this segment offers the greatest opportunity for savings because 60-70% of plant costs lie in this area.
'Whether your business is large or small, our asset effectiveness can help increase the profitability of your business,' said Brian Strauss, vp and general manager of the company's Industrial Solutions for Energy. 'Expected results may vary, based on the size of the facility, the type of solution, how it is implemented, each company's current maintenance practices, and customer commitment to change work practices. Collaboration with customers is key to the success of this solution.'
The solution is an integrated suite of data collection tools, services and analysis software that generates prioritised, actionable tasks. This enhances asset availability, longevity and performance capability. Honeywell say that complete return on investment is usually achieved within one year of implementation.
Because the PKS is software-enabled, it is easy to implement, and accelerates financial returns at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions that require additional hardware components like smart positioners.
Using the Honeywell Experion, customers can connect best-in-class assets from a wide variety of manufacturers using industry standard communication protocols like Foundation Fieldbus, Hart, Profibus and OPC. The Honeywell PKS advantage programme enhances this connectivity by bringing together Honeywell and other process automation suppliers to develop integrated asset solutions using open standards. PKS Advantage Program participants include suppliers like Dresser-Masoneilan, Endress+Hauser, Flowserve, and Krohne.
