IMA mounts a major display
IMA UK will be presenting a number of processing and packaging machines for the pharmaceutical industry, many of which will be making their first appearance in the UK. From the blister division the company will be featuring a compact TR200 blister packer linked to an A83 cartoner. The TR200 is capable of an output of 320 blisters/min in a twin-lane configuration, while the A83 is designed to be linked to a blister machine and includes a height-adjustable blister counting magazine and a transport system that minimises the fall height of the blisters into the transport buckets.
Representing the solid dose division will be the Ghibli Laboratory 003. Despite having a product volume of 3-6l, the unit on display is able to perform the same operations as larger units, the company says. Using a top spray, the machine can be used for drying, agglomerating, granulating or coating, but changing the insert to a bottom spray set-up enables the unit to carry out coating of granules or spheroids, film coating or layering. Furthermore, a tangential spray option allows layering granulating for increased density, spheronisation or coating.
The Synthesis 500 tablet press will also be shown. Capable of a production speed of 360,000 tablets/hour and designed for easy operation and cleaning, the Synthesis models combine the powder feeding and compression system of a Kilian unit with the advanced cleaning and isolation techniques pioneered on Comprima units, says IMA.
For liquid filling applications, the Multifill F97 filling and closing machine is being shown. This new unit can be fitted with a wide range of dosing pumps, including gravity, rotating valve and front valve volumetric pumps, time/pressure pumps, peristaltic pumps and vacuum fillers with a levelling unit. It can handle volumes from 0.5-500ml and can apply many different stoppers and inserts, as well as all types of closures.
