Innovation from Invitrogen

US company Invitrogen has introduced three new products for the life science industries.

Porcine trypsin is routinely used to dissociate cells, and although effective, is relatively unstable at or above room temperature. It also tends to lose activity after repeated freeze-thaw cycles, making it inconvenient and potentially wasteful. However, Invitrogen's TrypLE Express trypsin replacement enzyme overcomes these issues and provides a cell dissociation enzyme that is room temperature stable. In addition, it is gentler on cells, and thus provides performance benefits in downstream cell culture applications.

The company has also launched an enhanced version of ProtoArray Human Protein Microarray nc v2.0 - its high density, functional protein microarray - which contains more than 3,000 purified human proteins, an increase of 65%. This will further extend the value of ProtoArray micorarrays used to study protein-protein interactions, antibody specificity profiling and sera autoimmune biomarker discovery.

Finally, Fetal Bovine Serum has been repackaged in a new 50mL format, which enables easy 'one shot' use, thus reducing the risk of contamination.
