Innovative Cuno elements and housings

Cuno has developed the DuoFLO filter system, designed for both new and retrofit bag filter systems. The patented system features media with a true graded-porosity structure combined with a 62% increase in filter surface area. This is said to provide up to four times the service life of conventional felt filter bags, superior contaminant removal efficiency, enhanced flow per filter element, and reduced total filtration costs.

The DuoFLO design incorporates an innovative new geometry of both filter element and support basket which provides 100% downstream support of the media. This eliminates the potential for filter element rupture and the resulting gross contamination of the downstream effluent with previously removed particles. In addition, the design of the DuoFLO element reduces filter element hold-up fluid volume by 67% (when compared with conventional bags) to help minimise worker exposure to process fluids. The elements are available in polypropylene filter media with nominal removal ratings from 1 to 100µm.

These polypropylene filters are 21 CFR compliant and can therefore be used for pharmaceutical applications like particle removal in fine chemical production, particulate removal in water systems and other applications where high flow rates, low differential pressures and high dirt holding capacity are required.
