Representatives from life science company Invitrogen presented a cheque for £12,000 to the Scottish charity Association for International Cancer Research (AICR) at the 8th Cancer Research UK Beatson International Cancer Conference, Glasgow, UK.

Dr Michael Brown (pictured far right), Invitrogen's European business unit manager, made the presentation to Derek Napier (centre), ceo of AICR, and Dr Helen Robinson (left), the benefiting researcher.

Napier said: 'Donations such as this enable us to support cancer studies around the world. At AICR, we do not run our own research facilities but sponsor individual research scientists in many different countries, so the money we receive goes directly to funding research.' The donation will fund Robinson's bench supplies for one year and has been earmarked to support an AICR-funded research project investigating drug resistance in cancer treatment.
