Medication now comes in many forms - solid dose, liquid, injectable, inhalable, transdermal and films that dissolve in the mouth. Often, a particular active ingredient will be available in two or more of these formats, either to enhance its efficacy or to improve patient convenience and thereby increase compliance.

In today's competitive economic climate, any enterprise that does not strive for continuous improvement is condemning itself to slow extinction by stagnation - and this is just as true of the media as it is of pharmaceutical manufacturing.
When I joined Manufacturing Chemist just over five years ago, it was a printed magazine and that was all. A couple of years later we launched the website, with its regularly updated news section and free weekly email newsletter: encapsulated information suitable for rapid action and regular administration.
Clearly, the industry took to this new information 'dosage form' because the number of visitors has grown exponentially and continues to rise month-on-month.
Then a few months ago we launched the digital edition of Manufacturing Chemist - all the news and feature articles contained in each issue of the printed magazine and just as attractively laid out, complete with advertisement and classified pages, but sent to your inbox instead of your postbox. So if you are based overseas or you are last on the distribution list in your office, this could be just the remedy you've been waiting for.
The start of 2007 sees Manufacturing Chemist enter another new phase with a redesigned website (www.manufacturing-chemist.info). Still offering the mix of comprehensive news coverage, in-depth features and searchable archive material, it is even more user-friendly and convenient than the
previous site. Another innovation is our brand new buyer's guide, which enables you to search an extensive database of suppliers of products, technologies and services.
Here at Manufacturing Chemist we are excited about the opportunities that 2007 holds - both for the pharmaceutical sector and for us as a media partner, and the ways in which we can bring you the information you need in the format that you want.
Let me know what you think of the new site - your feedback is, as always, highly valued.
Here's to 2007!
